In Photography 171, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center intends to show the progression and importance of the many technologies and processes that have made up the photographic world since the inception of the medium.

Photographic processes that have been lost and found again will be highlighted in this exhibition. Historical photographs, many pulled from the library’s Western History collection, will be shown along side contemporary work using the same process. The exhibit will include examples of late 19th and early 20th century daguerreotypes, tintypes, albumen prints, circuit camera prints, and mammoth camera by early photographers such as John K. Hillars, William Henry Jackson, and more.

Ambrotypes, daguerreotypes, carbon prints, cyanotypes, platinum prints, bromoil prints, and gum bi-chromate prints by contemporary photographers such as Robert Shlaer, David Puntel, Saelon Renkes, Kevin O’Connell, and Gary Lynch, will be shown.

The event takes place in conjunction with The Society for Photographic Education’s National convention, and the Denver Month of Photography.

Roach Gallery in Denver will host the second in a series of exhibits featuring images from CPAC's extensive collection of vintage and contemporary photographs. More information later on this website.

CPAC will be hosting another slide jam this year. The last event, the often-rescheduled Sip and Slide was a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet other people from the arts and design communities.

The members' exhibit is scheduled for December.

Stay tuned...
